Barcelona started their league campaign with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao at San Mames.

Luis Suarez got the only goal of the match in the 54th minute after Messi failed to convert the penalty, earlier in the first half.

After having failed to win against Athletic Bilbao in the last two games, Barca came out on top this time, thanks to brilliant performance from Thomas Vermaelen and Sergi Roberto.

This quote from  "The Imitation game" fits the context.

"Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of

that do the things no one can imagine"

When Gerard Pique was banned for 4 games following referee abuse, everybody thought that his absence  would cost us in the away games and that  Thomas Vermaelen was there for taking, but the way he performed yesterday surprised everyone including me.

Hopefully, we will be able to see more of Thomas Vermaelen in the coming games. Sergi Roberto, on the other hand showed us that he can replace Dani Alves, starting from today. The way he bossed the right flank was amazing.

Today's match was not about superstars changing the match with their sheer moment of brilliance, but  it was about collective effort and determination to get all the 3 points. Messi and Iniesta had a bad day at the office, but still we walked away with all 3 points.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid dropped 2 points against newly promoted Sporting Gijon which makes our win even more sweet.

The injury updates of Dani Alves and Sergio Busquets will be posted on the website very soon. Stay tuned.
