La Liga clubs are set to end the financial dominance of Barcelona and Real Madrid by selling their TV rights collectively. At present, the clubs who take part in La Liga sell their rights individually. The recent  figures shows that "THE BIG 2" receive 140 million each, a season by selling their TV rights individually. Atletico Madrid, the league champions received under half of that amount. The financial domination means both Barcelona and Real Madrid can attract any player in the world.

The Times revealed that, the new TV rights deal, which apparently starts from the beginning of 2016-2017 season would end the financial dominance of BIG 2 in La Liga. The new deal will emulate the Premier league model which will surely make the league more competitive. Currently, the bottom teams in La Liga are affected the most due to the financial disparity, and new TV rights deal will act as a boon for all those clubs.

Barcelona’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu is leading the campaign towards collective deal.

Bartomeu said, “Barcelona and Real Madrid sell individually and we negotiate with a lot of success

That helps us to have as many of the best players in the world as possible. But we know that the Premier League is very competitive

In Spain, between 2004 and 2014 it has been just Barcelona and Madrid, mainly Barcelona.

We are leading the attempt to find a consensus. It has been our objective for a long time to convince all the clubs in La Liga to sell the rights as a competition".
